




PRIVATE EQUITY FUND ACCOUNTANT needed at one of our clients that provides outsourced middle and back office solutions to hedge funds, asset managers and private equity firms!!! Hybrid 3x per week in NYC only. Base $100k - $120k plus 10 - 20% target bonus. Must have 2 - 5+ years of experience in PE fund accounting at a PE firm, PE fund admin or public accounting/audit firm servicing PE clients.
Our client is an investment-focused managed services provider supporting private equity firms and investment managers with fund operations, accounting, investor reporting, and related financial processes. They are seeking a highly capable Private Equity Fund Accountant with 2–5 years of relevant experience to help manage critical fund accounting and investor servicing activities across their client base.
The successful candidate will possess hands-on knowledge of private equity structures, investor allocations, capital activity, and fund reporting. Technical expertise, attention to detail, and process ownership are more important than supervisory experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and execute capital call and distribution processes across private equity funds and related investment vehicles.
• Prepare and review investor allocations, partner capital account activity, and related supporting schedules.
• Calculate and maintain carried interest and waterfall models, including complex allocation methodologies.
• Support quarterly and annual fund closes, including NAV calculations and financial reporting deliverables.
• Coordinate investor reporting, including capital account statements and performance reporting packages.
• Assist with tax-related fund accounting matters, including investor-specific tax accommodations, allocation considerations, and coordination with tax advisors.
• Reconcile investment activity, cash balances, capital transactions, and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare workpapers and documentation supporting audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Analyze partnership agreements, fund governing documents, and side letters to ensure accurate implementation of economic terms.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Partner with internal teams and client stakeholders to resolve accounting, reporting, and investor servicing matters.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in private equity fund accounting.
• Prior experience at:
A private equity investment firm;
A private equity fund administrator; or
A public accounting/audit firm serving private equity fund clients.
• Strong understanding of:
Capital calls and distributions
Investor allocations
Partnership accounting
Carried interest and waterfall calculations
Capital account maintenance
Fund financial statements
• Experience working with complex fund structures and partnership agreements.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification.
• Experience with private equity accounting platforms and fund administration systems.
• Familiarity with investor reporting systems and workflow tools.
• Exposure to multiple fund strategies, including buyout, growth equity, credit, or real assets.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a technically strong fund accountant who can independently own critical accounting and operational processes. The ideal candidate understands the mechanics of private equity fund operations, can navigate complex allocation and waterfall calculations, and is comfortable working directly with investment professionals, fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and investors.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving operational and accounting challenges, improving processes, and delivering accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced investment environment. Leadership experience is not required; demonstrated private equity fund accounting expertise is essential.
