FOUNDING BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER needed at one of our Agentic AI investment technology STARTUP clients! Hybrid 3x per week in NYC only. Base $90k - $120k plus performance based bonus and EQUITY! Not looking for traditional sales people - must have 3+ years of experience in investment banking, asset management, or a related field – but you have a genuine pull towards technology and AI.
Our client develops autonomous AI agents that eliminate the repetitive, manual work slowing down financial institutions. Their technology supports credit, investment, ESG, and compliance workflows for leading asset managers, PE firms and investment banks.
Responsibilities:
We're looking for a high-agency business development manager to sit at the intersection of sales and marketing. Reporting directly to the Head of Marketing, you'll build the outbound motion zero to 1, run experiments, support pipeline generation, and learn on the ground the ins and outs of partnership strategy.
This isn't a traditional BDR role. While cold calling and sequence building will be part of the role, you’ll own end-to-end outbound plays, support our field presence at industry events, and provide operational muscle to our growing partnerships efforts. You'll be expected to fail fast, iterate intelligently, and bring credibility to every conversation you have with a potential customer.
This role will suit someone restless in a good way, who finds energy in figuring things out, gets frustrated by slow-moving bureaucracy, and wants to see the direct impact of their work. If you've been in finance and felt the itch to build something, this is for you.
What you'll own:
- Design and manage high-touch outbound campaigns across traditional (email, LinkedIn, phone, events) and experimental channels, building and testing sequences to drive qualified pipeline for the sales team.
- Act as strategic and operational leverage for our event and conference presence. This will primarily involve pipeline activities, but will also include anything from pre-event coordination and project management to on-the-ground logistics, follow-up, and ROI tracking across conferences, roundtables, and hosted events.
- Support the Head of Marketing and broader GTM team on partnership operations: tracking relationships, coordinating deliverables, preparing materials, and staying on top of open opportunities.
- Develop deep familiarity with our ICP and continuously improve how we reach and engage them.
Requirements:
- 3+ years into your career, with a background in investment banking, asset management, or a related field – but you have a genuine pull towards technology and AI.
- Extraordinarily proactive. You spot gaps, form a view, and act without much direction.
- Highly organized and operationally sharp. You can juggle a busy events calendar, an outbound pipeline, and a handful of external partnership threads without dropping anything.
- Exceptional communicator, written and verbal. You know how to write a cold email that gets a response and how to hold a credible conversation with a senior buy-side analyst.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and early-stage environments. You thrive when the playbook isn't written yet and the budget is lean.
- AI-first mindset - You have experience leveraging AI in your own workflows.
- Maturity that belies your experience. You take ownership seriously, communicate proactively, and hold yourself to a high standard for excellence.
- Experience with HubSpot, Apollo, Outreach, and similar tools is a nice-to-have but not necessary.
